Life for Belarusians Without a Valid Passport Will Become Easier in Bulgaria
In Bulgaria, an opportunity has emerged to obtain a temporary identity document for Belarusians with expired passports, the People's Embassy of Belarus in Bulgaria reported .

This decision concerns Belarusians who have a permanent or long-term residence permit in Bulgaria in accordance with EU Council Directive 2003/109/EC. Obtaining the document will be voluntary.
According to the People's Embassy of Belarus in Bulgaria, this was reported by the leadership of the 'Migration' Directorate of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
However, the new document has significant limitations. Currently, Bulgaria does not have a full-fledged analogue of a foreigner's passport, so the temporary certificate will not be able to fully replace a valid passport and will have limited functionality.
Despite this, for Belarusians, this opportunity can become a temporary solution to some of the problems related to the absence of a valid passport. This can be especially important for children.
A special working group under the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue to search for a more convenient and comprehensive mechanism for solving the problem.
In addition, in the future, the National Assembly of Bulgaria plans to consider a bill that should improve the conditions for the legalization of Belarusians who are in the country with a temporary residence permit.
