This can be compared to the speed of a jet aircraft.

Chinese engineers have set a new speed record for maglev trains. A one-ton train prototype managed to accelerate to 800 km/h in just 5.3 seconds — comparable to the speed of a jet aircraft, writes news.cgtn.com.
This is already the third consecutive record in recent months in this laboratory for a maglev train prototype, created using maglev technology (from English "magnetic levitation").
The series of records began in June 2025, when the prototype was first accelerated to 651 km/h, and then to 700 km/h.
Engineers plan to reach a speed of 1000 km/h.
The car, which levitates above the rails thanks to magnets, accelerates to high speeds due to the absence of friction and the use of an alternating electromagnetic field. When laying tracks, deviations should not exceed 0.5 mm.
During the experiment, the system's ability for controlled effective braking of the train was also demonstrated: the prototype was abruptly stopped on a section only 200 meters long.
In the future, Chinese engineers intend to use this technology for launching rockets and aviation equipment. As of 2026, there are six operating maglev train systems based on maglev technology worldwide — three in China, two in South Korea, and one in Japan.
