Russian customs didn't believe a Belarusian who brought 43 smartphones from Dubai and said they were for personal use
All phones had to be surrendered to the Russian state.
The Adler District Court of Sochi found Belarusian Aliaksei Yushkevich guilty of not declaring goods and confiscated from him 43 smartphones, which he tried to transport through customs under the guise of personal belongings.
According to the case materials, the man flew to Sochi on a flight from Dubai and went through the green corridor without submitting a customs declaration. During baggage scanning, customs officers saw a lot of electronics in his suitcase and conducted an inspection. The suitcase contained 43 smartphones of various brands — iPhone, Redmi, Honor, Samsung. Each phone had a sticker with a number and a name — apparently, markings for a wholesale consignment of goods.
The Belarusian explained that he bought the phones "for personal use for work purposes" for approximately $1000.
They did not believe him. The court found the Belarusian guilty and confiscated all 43 phones in favor of the state.
