Why do metro car doors in Minsk often close right in front of passengers' noses? A driver answers
Don't rush to accuse metro drivers of callousness.

Uladzislau, who works as a driver in the Minsk metro, talks about his work on TikTok and sometimes answers passengers' questions. In the comments, passengers also write to him about grievances. One of the most popular complaints concerns drivers often closing doors right in front of the noses of people running for the train – even if they are with children.
Uladzislau explained why this happens.
— We have a very strict schedule, down to the second. That is, we are obliged to depart not just at a certain minute, but at a minute and a specific number of seconds. For example, at 15 seconds, 35, 45, and so on... And if there's a 10-second delay from the schedule, it's still considered acceptable. If it's more — 20 seconds — it's already on the brink. 30 seconds — that's already critical.
The man adds that, purely humanly speaking, all drivers try to take as many passengers as possible — especially when they see elderly people or passengers with children trying to catch the train.
— But such people are at every stop. And so, if the doors closed in front of you, you got upset, you got offended at the driver... Perhaps he was already waiting for someone at previous stops, so his permissible limit has simply been exhausted and he cannot wait any longer.
Uladzislau admits that he himself often finds himself in such a situation — and sees the negative reaction of passengers left on the platform: in their eyes, on their lips... By the way, if a person shows the driver a middle finger, he notices it.
— Understand the specifics of metro operation. At one stop, he waited for people, took as many as he could — minus 10 seconds. At the next, similar people run and plead: "Take us!" You feel sorry for them — and lose another 5-10 seconds. And there are still 15 stations ahead, and the lost time won't come from anywhere.
The driver advises to view the situation this way: you didn't miss this train, but arrived a little early for the next one. Because if the train had departed on schedule — 20 seconds earlier — you wouldn't have even seen it.
Uladzislau added that passengers are often unhappy when the train slows down somewhere in the tunnel — but this is also due to the fact that the train from the next station did not start on time.
