This week, the weather in Belarus will be very unstable. After a warm and relatively dry period, the country will fall under the influence of a wide cyclonic depression «Margaret». It will bring atmospheric fronts, significant precipitation, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds, reports Belhydromet.
Forecasters note that the weather will first sharply change towards coolness and rain, and then the temperature will start to rise again.
On August 18 and 19, colder air from northern latitudes will enter Belarus. The temperature will be from +14 to +24 °C. In the southeast, it will be warmer on August 18 — up to +27 °C.
On August 18, Tuesday, rains will pass over most of the country's territory, with heavy downpours in many areas. In places, and over most of the southeastern territory, thunderstorms are expected. During thunderstorms, squally winds with gusts up to 15-20 m/s are possible. At night, it will be +9…+15 °C, in the south — up to +18 °C. During the day — +14…+20 °C, in the southeast — +21…+27 °C.
On August 19, Wednesday, short-term rains are forecast. At night in the north of the country, heavy precipitation is possible, with thunderstorms in places. Wind gusts in the east at night and in the northeast during the day may reach 15-20 m/s. At night, the temperature will drop to +7…+14 °C, during the day it will be +17…+24 °C.
On August 20, Thursday, short-term rains will pass again, with possible thunderstorms in places. At night, +9…+15 °C is expected, during the day — +18…+26 °C.
On August 21, Friday, rains will pass over most of Belarus. In some areas, thunderstorms are possible, during which winds will intensify up to 15-20 m/s. At night — +8…+14 °C, in the south in places up to +16 °C. During the day, the air will warm up to +21…+27 °C.
On August 22, Saturday, short-term rains are expected, with local thunderstorms and strong winds with gusts up to 15-20 m/s. At night, it will be +10…+16 °C, in the south — up to +18 °C. During the day — +20…+27 °C, in the southeast in places up to +29 °C.
On August 23, Sunday, short-term rains and local thunderstorms will persist. In the northeast, wind gusts up to 15-20 m/s are possible during thunderstorms. At night, the temperature will be +10…+17 °C, during the day — +20…+27 °C.
Thus, «Margaret» will bring several days of unstable weather to Belarus with rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds. However, from August 20, a gradual warming will begin, and by the end of the week, temperatures in some places will again approach +29 °C.
