Lithuanian businessman arrested in Belarus

Vytautas Slankauskas worked as head of internal audit at the Austrian-capitalized company "HS Belacon" in Belarus, and before that, he headed the company for three years.

Vytautas Slankauskas, a Lithuanian who headed one of the largest timber processing enterprises in Belarus, was detained and arrested in June, reported LRT.

The man worked as head of internal audit at the Austrian-capitalized company "HS Belacon" in Belarus, and previously headed the company for three years.

The reasons for the detention and details of the prosecution of Vytautas Slankauskas are currently unknown.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to LRT that the Lithuanian embassy in Belarus had been informed about the detention. The ministry provides no additional information.
