One of the main reasons for the drop in support was Americans' concern about the US war with Iran.

In early August, Trump's approval rating was 35%. At the same time, 64% of respondents said they disapproved of his performance, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
One of the main reasons for the drop in support was Americans' concern about the US war with Iran. About 80% of respondents believe that US involvement in the conflict will last a long time. Only 16% believe the war is likely to end within a few weeks.
Only 20% of respondents said the war with Iran was worth it. Among Republicans, about half think so.
The conflict also affected Americans' economic sentiment. Due to the war, fuel prices have risen, which increased household concerns about the cost of living.
Against this backdrop, Democrats gained an advantage over Republicans on issues of economic management and the cost of living. This could be significant ahead of the US midterm elections in November.
At the same time, Republicans maintain a slight advantage on the issue of immigration. Their policy in this area is supported by 40% of respondents, compared to 38% who prefer Democrats.
The gap has significantly narrowed compared to early 2025, when the Republican advantage was 26 percentage points.
According to Reuters/Ipsos data, Trump's current approval rating of 33% also matches his lowest result during his first presidential term, recorded in December 2017.
The poll was conducted online among 1,166 adult Americans, and has a statistical margin of error of approximately three percentage points in either direction.
