Trump spoke with Putin for 1 hour and 25 minutes

The content of the conversation is currently known only through the retelling of Vladimir Putin's assistant for international affairs. Donald Trump's feed on TruthSocial is still filled with messages dedicated to the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.

Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with American leader Donald Trump, during which he personally congratulated him on U.S. Independence Day. This was reported by the Russian leader's aide, Yuri Ushakov, TASS reports.

Before this, Donald Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The conversation between Trump and Putin "lasted almost an hour and a half, more precisely — 1 hour and 25 minutes," Ushakov clarified.

"The Russian side initiated the previous phone contact — on June 14, Donald Trump's 80th birthday. This time, the American partners proposed holding the conversation on the day of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence," Ushakov said.

"Today's phone conversation between the two heads of state began with President Vladimir Putin personally congratulating Donald Trump and the entire American people on the landmark holiday," Ushakov said.

Putin also confirmed Russia's readiness to contribute to de-escalation around Iran — where, let us recall, a truce has been established, and oil, gas, helium, and nitrogen are once again flowing from the Persian Gulf to world markets.

"Our readiness to provide practical assistance to efforts for de-escalation and stabilization of the situation in the region has been confirmed," Ushakov noted. "Donald Trump, in turn, thanked the Russian side for its balanced position and constructive proposals," the Russian leader's aide added. Russia did not interfere when the U.S. and Israel struck Iran, Moscow's "strategic ally."

"Touching upon the situation around Iran, Vladimir Putin expressed hope that the negotiation process based on the memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran will allow for mutually acceptable long-term solutions to key issues of settlement," Ushakov noted.

The main topic of the conversation between Trump and Putin was, naturally, the war in Ukraine.

"The presidents, naturally, touched upon the topic of the Ukrainian settlement. Including in light of Donald Trump's upcoming participation in the NATO summit in Turkey on July 7-8," Putin's aide noted.

Ushakov's tone was benevolent.

"The American president once again confirmed his readiness to facilitate a speedy cessation of hostilities and the search for peaceful solutions to overcome the crisis," Ushakov emphasized.

Special envoys of American President Donald Trump will be ready to continue mediation efforts and come to Moscow again, Ushakov said.

Earlier, the visits of Witkoff and Kushner were postponed multiple times.

"The conversation, which is the fourth this year, was, naturally, not only protocol-based but also business-like and very constructive. This conversation allowed for an open discussion of current bilateral and international agenda topics," Ushakov noted.

The conversation between Trump and Putin took place against the backdrop of intensified Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russia, as well as on occupied territories. As a result of the destruction of a large part of Russian oil refineries, Russia experienced a severe fuel crisis, and public dissatisfaction with the war began to grow.
