Farmers whose farm with cows burned down to ashes last year cannot build a new one due to neighbor's resistance

In the agro-town of Loshany, Minsk region, a conflict has been ongoing for several years between the Senko farmer family and their neighbor. After a fire in September last year destroyed farm buildings and the herd, the dispute not only did not stop but intensified, writes pristalica.by.

According to Tatyana and Fyodor Senko, in 2019, the Minsk District Executive Committee allocated land to them for farming. Gradually, the farm developed: the family kept about 300 sheep and 15 cows.

Farmers claim that problems began after a new neighbor settled nearby in 2022. According to them, after his numerous complaints, various control services began to regularly visit them.

The family assures that all checks did not reveal serious violations. They themselves were accommodating — at the neighbor's request, they allegedly even gave up breeding sheep, keeping only cows and chickens, but the complaints continued.

After the fire, the Senko family began preparing to build new premises for storing hay and keeping livestock.

According to them, as soon as building materials were purchased, the neighbor immediately complained to the relevant authorities, even though the project had not yet been approved. Now the family is awaiting permission to erect a temporary structure for hay storage and believes that the processing of documents is delayed due to constant complaints.

Farmers say that the criminal case regarding the fire is still under investigation. They note that no suspects have been identified yet. According to them, the neighbor was considered as one of the possible suspects, but the collected materials did not confirm his involvement. The investigation of this case is not yet complete, and investigative actions are ongoing.

The neighbor himself, named Anton, claims that he is not against farming as such. However, he believes that farm buildings should not be located within residential areas. According to him, the main problems were unpleasant odors, a large number of flies, and livestock grazing near residential homes.

The man states that he repeatedly offered to move the cowsheds further away from residential plots. He also claims that inspections did indeed reveal violations related to the placement of farm buildings without the necessary approvals and sanitary distances.

Anton categorically denies his involvement in the fire. He claims that on the night of the incident he was at home, and the video surveillance system can confirm his alibi. According to him, appeals to the prosecutor's office, sanitary services, and the police were solely driven by the desire to protect his rights.

The situation is currently under the control of the Minsk District Executive Committee. The chairman of the district executive committee, Denis Kolyasen, personally visited the conflict site and met with all parties. According to him, the main task now is to find a solution that complies with the law and satisfies both the farmers and their neighbor.

Interestingly, according to the official, neighbor Anton even expressed readiness to financially assist in the construction of a new farm, but on the condition that it would be located further away from residential houses.

Currently, specialists are studying possible options for the placement of new farm buildings. The Senko family awaits the necessary permits, the neighbor hopes for improved living conditions, and investigators continue to work on uncovering the circumstances of the fire.
