The Switzerland national team defeated the tournament hosts — the Canada national team — with a score of 2:1. The match took place in Vancouver at BC Place stadium.
In the first half, neither team managed to open the scoring. Immediately after the break, in the 46th minute, the Swiss took the lead thanks to a precise strike by Ruben Vargas following a cross from the flank. In the 57th minute, Joël Monzamby increased the European team's advantage by scoring the second goal.
The Canadians did not give up and continued to look for attacking opportunities. In the 76th minute, forward Promise David reduced the deficit, but the tournament hosts failed to save the match.
Following this victory, Switzerland accumulated seven points and took first place in Group B, confidently advancing to the playoffs. Canada, with four points, remained in second place, but also secured a spot in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team concluded their group stage performance in this group with a 3:1 victory over Qatar, however, this was not enough to climb higher than third place in Group B.
The match took place in Seattle at Lumen Field stadium. The scoring was opened in the 29th minute by Kerim-Sam Alaybegović. Five minutes later, Qatar's defender Sultan Al-Brake deflected the ball into his own net, increasing the Bosnians' lead to two goals. Before halftime, Hassan Al-Haydos reduced Qatar's deficit, but in the 81st minute, Ermin Mahmić sealed the match — 3:1.
Following this victory, Bosnia and Herzegovina also accumulated four points. However, based on additional indicators, primarily goal difference, they conceded to Canada, who also had four points. As a result, the Bosnian team took third place in the group.
Nevertheless, chances for continuing the fight still remain. Bosnia and Herzegovina can advance to the playoffs as one of the best third-placed teams in their respective groups.
The Qatar national team earned only one point, took last place in the quartet, and concluded their participation in the tournament.
