On August 1, the V Tournament of Belarusian Solidarity, the Melkaziorau Cup, will be held in Warsaw.
In 2022, the first solidarity tournament was organized in Warsaw in support of Belarusian journalist Aliaksandr Ivulin, who was behind bars. The tournament became an annual tradition that unites Belarusians around the world.
"This Cup has always been about community, solidarity, and true Belarusian values. From this year, it's also about memory. About memory of Mikita. About the person with whom we became more Belarusian together. About the person who proved every Saturday that our life is 'malina' (a play on words, meaning 'raspberry' but colloquially 'awesome'). About the person who believed that the sun would shine," Aliaksandr Ivulin wrote.
