A new type of trains is planned to be introduced in Belarus. We are talking about the so-called accelerated regional economy class lines. They will operate on routes between Minsk, regional centers and district cities, as well as other settlements, writes Tochka.by.

The introduction of a new type of trains is provided for by amendments to the law on railway transport, adopted by the Council of the Republic.
The main idea of the new format is to reduce travel time due to fewer stops. Essentially, these will be trains that will move faster along existing regional routes by not stopping at all stops along the way.
Currently, economy- and business-class trains operate on regional lines in Belarus, but they are not divided into additional subcategories. The new type should complement the existing transport system, but specific models of rolling stock have not yet been named.
In addition, the draft new law on railway transport also provides for other changes in the railway sector. The rules for medical examinations of railway workers are being updated, and additional requirements for safety control on railway tracks are being introduced.
The procedure for investigating traffic safety violations and informing the relevant authorities is being clarified, as well as the mechanisms for obtaining permits for employees to operate railway transport.
Also, part of the functions of the paramilitary guard of Belarusian Railways will be transferred to the Department of Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Transport will receive additional powers for classifying violations and issuing permits for industry employees.
