Half of the bridge over the Svislach on Independence Avenue in Minsk has already been dismantled
In Minsk, the reconstruction of the bridge over the Svislach River on Independence Avenue near Gorky Park continues. Works began on July 6, and as of today, the dismantling of old structures has been completed by approximately 50 percent, writes the "Minsk-Novosti" agency.

According to representatives of the construction organization, the bridge deck has already been removed and elements that need to be replaced have been dismantled. The most challenging stage remains the dismantling of structures, as it is important not to damage the main supporting arch. After these works are completed, the pace of reconstruction is planned to increase. Approximately 70 specialists work at the site daily.
During the repair, the bridge structure will be strengthened. Builders will lay a new monolithic slab, perform work to stabilize the arch, and restore sections of concrete vaults above the river, where damaged layers of concrete are currently being removed.
The renovation of the metal railings also continues. First, the section on the side of Yanka Kupala Park is being repaired, after which the work will move to the opposite side of the bridge. In addition, the granite cladding and decorative elements will be restored. Damaged granite blocks will be replaced with new ones to preserve the historical appearance of the structure.
The bridge has the status of a historical and cultural value, so after reconstruction, its architectural appearance, dimensions, and the number of lanes for vehicle traffic will not change.
Builders work around the clock. According to them, the work is proceeding according to schedule and even slightly ahead of it. If the weather worsens, the schedule may be slightly adjusted.
Since July 5, for the duration of the reconstruction, traffic on this section of Independence Avenue has been closed for most cars. Public transport, shared taxis (marshrutkas), and emergency service vehicles continue to operate without changes. For other vehicles, a detour has been organized along the first and second transport rings, as well as along adjacent streets.
