By the end of the year, construction of a new large residential district will begin in the east of Minsk

Preparations are underway in Minsk for the implementation of one of the largest urban development projects of recent years — the construction of the new residential district Zialiony Bor. The construction of the first facilities is planned to begin at the end of 2026, and by 2030, approximately 952 thousand square meters of housing, designed for about 36.5 thousand residents, are intended to be built here, reports the "Minsk-Novosti" agency.

The new district will be located on the eastern outskirts of the capital, near Kalodziščy and in the direction of Minsk National Airport. The territory, covering almost 1.9 thousand hectares, had long remained a forest massif that formed on the site of a former military training ground. More than 80% of this territory is covered by forests, so special attention was paid to preserving the natural landscape during the project's development.

The concept of Zialiony Bor emerged in the early 2010s, when new territories for large-scale housing construction began to be sought in Minsk. The project was repeatedly refined, and its implementation was delayed due to the necessity of developing transport and engineering infrastructure, as well as following public discussions with residents of neighboring settlements.

The district is being created as a full-fledged urban space where residents will be able to use all necessary infrastructure close to home. It is planned to build four kindergartens, schools, polyclinics, a hospital, an emergency medical station, sports facilities, shopping centers, a fire station, and public spaces here. The project also envisages the creation of parks, squares, and boulevards, which will help preserve the green character of the area.

Special attention is paid to transport accessibility. Zialiony Bor will be connected to Minsk by new highways, and in the future, the possibility of organizing a high-speed rail link is envisioned. For cars, ground-level parking, multi-level garages, and underground parking lots are designed, which should make courtyards more spacious and comfortable.

The development of the district will proceed in stages. In the first stage, by 2030, several residential blocks are planned to be formed. Subsequently, the total area of multi-apartment housing will exceed 2.9 million square meters, and together with public and industrial development, the total area of all facilities will amount to more than 4 million square meters, making Zialiony Bor one of the largest new districts in Minsk.
