Maksim Znak Removed His Portrait from the 'Guard of Light' in Vilnius
On July 20, an event took place in Vilnius with the participation of former political prisoner Maksim Znak. Around 2 PM, he visited the 'Guard of Light' opposite the Belarusian embassy to remove the poster with his portrait, writes 'Viasna'.

For several years, this poster was on the wall as a symbol of solidarity and a call for the lawyer's release. Maksim's friends from the Lithuanian Bar Association, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and activists who supported Belarusian political prisoners were present at the event. During the event, Maksim Znak emphasized the need to continue the fight for the freedom of other prisoners.

Tonight, at 6:30 PM (18:30), a continuation of the meeting is planned. An informal concert will take place at the House of National Communities in Vilnius (Raugyklos g. 25), where Maksim Znak will share his stories, perform songs, and answer questions from those present.

Lawyer Maksim Znak, one of Viktar Babaryka's associates during the 2020 election campaign and a member of the presidium of the first composition of the Coordination Council, was detained on September 9, 2020. In September 2021, he was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. In July 2026, Maksim Znak was released.
