Prosecutor requested seven years of imprisonment for Grodno activist Valiantsina Navumava
The final hearing in the politically motivated case of Grodno resident Valiantsina Navumava is scheduled for July 24
The trial began on June 29 in the regional court. The process is being presided over by Judge Mikalai Rachynski. Behind him are dozens of politically motivated criminal cases, writes "Hrodna Human Rights".
Navumava is charged with the following articles:
- Article 16, Part 6 (Complicity in a crime)
- Article 130, Part 1 (Incitement of other social hostility)
- Article 130, Part 3 (Actions provided for in Parts 1 or 2 of the article, committed by a group of persons)
- Article 188 (Defamation)
- Article 203-1, Part 3 (Violation of the secrecy of correspondence, telephone conversations)
- Article 361-4, Parts 1 and 2 (Facilitation of extremist activity, the same actions committed repeatedly)
- Article 367, Part 2 (Defamation against Lukashenka)
- Article 368, Part 1 (Insulting Lukashenka)
- Article 369 (Insulting a government official)
- Article 370 (Desecration of state symbols)
- Article 391 (Contempt of court)
Valiantsina Navumava was a long-time member of the left-wing party "Fair World". In 2017, she was fined 15 basic units in an administrative case for participating in the "anti-parasite" protests.
The woman was detained on September 5, 2025, and placed in prison No. 1 in Hrodna. Initially, the case involved Part 2 of Article 367 (defamation of Lukashenka).
However, on February 27, 2026, new charges were brought under articles of the Criminal Code.
