Will medical universities face a shortfall this year? Ministry of Health commented
This year, medical universities are not accepting paid tuition for doctors — only state-funded places. During the admission period to universities, it was noticeable that for some specialties, fewer applications were submitted than there were places in the departments.
The situation was commented on STB by Deputy Minister of Health Barys Andrasiuk.
“We have increased the state-funded places by more than 700, which means we are giving a real chance for children to become doctors. This year, children with very high scores applied for targeted admission,” he assured.
According to the official, in more than 60% of cases, the certificate score was 90 or higher. And initially, many children applied, but, as they say, when they saw that the passing scores were high, many got scared and withdrew their documents.
But, Andrasiuk sees a positive, children with very high scores passed. For targeted admission, the score is approximately 30% higher compared to last year, he says.
