According to the Ukrainian side, on the night of June 22, drones attacked the bridge, damaging the railway track and one of the spans. After this, repair equipment arrived at the scene, which also came under attack on the night of June 23. The SSO of the Ukrainian Armed Forces claims that after these strikes, the bridge was completely put out of action.
Ukrainian military personnel note that this facility was used for logistical support of Russian troops in the southern direction and to support military infrastructure in Crimea.
In June, Ukrainian forces had already repeatedly attacked bridges and crossings connecting Russian-annexed Ukrainian Crimea with the occupied territories of Kherson Oblast. Damage was reported to several bridges across the North Crimean Canal, as well as crossings in the areas of Chongar, Henichesk, and Armiansk.
The Ukrainian side also reports an increase in attacks on transport infrastructure used to supply the Russian grouping in Crimea. According to Ukrainian representatives, the goal of such actions is to complicate the delivery of equipment, ammunition, and fuel to the peninsula.
