Young Front Activist Makes His Way to Prison Again

He has to serve 3 remaining days

Police brought young opposition activist Mikalaj Dziemidzienka to a detention center in Minsk on Tuesday to complete his jail term.

Mr. Dziemidzienka, deputy chairman of Young Front, intended to present himself at the detention center on Akrescina Street on his own and even made a phone call to the center earlier in the day to inquire when he should come, according to the opposition youth group`s website. An officer replied, "Come, we`re waiting.”

However, at 4:30 p.m., when Mr. Dziemidzienka was preparing to leave his home, police arrived on a minibus with tinted windows to bring the activist to the jail.

As it was reported before, Mikalaj Dziemidzienka was sentenced to 10 days in jail by a district judge in Minsk on May 15, along with his two associates. All of them were found guilty of "petty hooliganism."

But while in jail, Mr. Dziemidzienka developed high blood pressure and had to be taken to hospital.

He is to serve three more days and be released on June 1.
