Russian drones attacked civilian vessels in the Black Sea: Egyptian sailor killed
On the night of June 22, Russian forces launched a massive attack with attack UAVs on civilian shipping in the Black Sea. Three merchant vessels en route to ports in the Odesa region came under attack. This was reported by the head of the Odesa OVA, Oleh Kiper.
The most serious damage was sustained by a dry cargo ship flying the flag of Panama. A fire broke out on its board after the strike, the crew had to be evacuated, and the ship is now at anchor.
As a result of the attack, a cook, an Egyptian citizen, died. In total, there were nine people on board – citizens of Egypt, Turkey, and India.
Drones also attacked civilian vessels flying the flags of Palau and Belize. Fortunately, there were no casualties there, and the ships continued their journey.
The Ukrainian side emphasizes that such targeted strikes on civilian infrastructure and shipping are another war crime. Russian authorities have not commented on the situation.
