Thousands of people gathered for Kupalle in Aziarka and Sula. Such a large crowd no one remembers. PHOTOS
Kupala celebrations have begun in Belarus.

Since ancient times, Kupalle has been timed to the summer solstice, which falls on the 20th of June.
On Saturday, June 20, the weather was truly summery. Many people gathered at the open-air museum in Aziarka — according to the organizers of Kupalle, over 2000 people. But such a large crowd was not stressful at all; on the contrary, it created a sense of community — real folk festivities! There was enough space for everyone, and there were practically no queues, writes "Onliner".

Craftsmen and a small food court were located on the museum grounds. So you could grab a bite to eat and buy a handmade item.
At the entrance, museum visitors were immediately greeted with round dances and other dances. It was difficult to pass by.

But how to celebrate Kupalle without a wreath? The Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life also took care of this: herbs and flowers were laid out on the square near the church, and all who wished could weave for themselves the main symbol of the holiday. Creative master classes on creating decor and grass dolls were also held.

Folklore ensembles performed on stage, Kupala songs echoed from all sides — girls in traditional costumes sang them in various locations of the museum.

The main part of the festivities was a large Kupala procession to the bonfire near the river. All the guests of the festival gathered on the site, round dances were led in three rows, and sometimes the dances accelerated so much that people got out of breath.

Naturally, there were also jumps over the bonfire. From ancient times, they were considered not only folk entertainment but also a purification ritual. And for couples — also a test of their union's strength. Ancestors believed that if lovers could jump through the fire without letting go of hands, a happy future together awaited them.

Kupalle in Aziarka concluded with another integral ritual of the holiday — launching wreaths onto the water.

On July 4, another Kupalle will take place at the Museum of Architecture and Rural Life in Aziarka. The organizers promise even more large-scale festivities.
Kupalle was also celebrated on Saturday at the 'Sula' History Park. Also with all the holiday traditions. And of course, with the famous drakkar.

Where else to celebrate Kupalle? Here are a few options:
Dukorski Maentak (June 28th)
The festival program includes traditional games and dances to live music, a puppet theatre (batleyka), lectures on Belarusian mythology and national costume, master classes on creating Kupala souvenirs and decorations, wreath weaving, quests, and fortune-telling. The culmination of the evening will be the selection of Kupalinka and Kupalish, a torchlight procession, lighting of the Kupala wheel, round dances around the bonfire, launching wreaths onto the water, and jumping over the fire.
Sula History Park (June 21, 27, 28, July 4-5)
Guests of 'Sula' can expect Kupala rituals, folk songs and dances, theatrical performances, master classes, games and entertainment for children and adults, searches for the 'fern flower', bonfire festivities, etc.
Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve (July 4)
Kupalle in the Berezinsky Reserve is suitable for those who want to combine a folk holiday with nature recreation. The organizers promise traditional rituals, concerts by folklore ensembles, master classes, folk games, round dances, and other thematic activities in the picturesque atmosphere of one of Belarus's most famous natural corners.
Sviata Fest (Kupalle) (June 27)
The festival will take place right in the center of Minsk — in the cultural space 'Echo'. The celebration will combine modern leisure formats with folk traditions. Visitors can expect a concert, lectures, master classes, craft stalls, thematic photo zones, entertainment for children and adults, and a food court. The organizers promise a rich program that will allow visitors to get acquainted with Kupala traditions in an urban format.
"Kupala Lights" in the Botanical Garden (July 4-5)
Another option for those planning to celebrate the holiday in Minsk. The program includes performances by artists, folk rituals, master classes, entertainment for the whole family, and an evening fire show.
