It is believed that greenish potatoes are harmful to eat. A scientist has settled this question.

Yulia Hunko, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Head of the Potato Breeding Department at the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato Growing and Horticulture, debunks the common myth about green potatoes.
Solanine, which gives the peel a green tint, is indeed poisonous, but one can only be poisoned by consuming an excessively large amount of such potatoes.
For seed material, on the contrary, greening and sprouting in the light is beneficial: such tubers store better and are less damaged by pathogens, writes "Respublika".
