New "Spider-Man" Becomes Second Most Successful Debut in Hollywood History

The film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" from Sony Pictures, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, grossed $355 million in its opening weekend in North America. This is the second most successful debut in Hollywood history. First place in history is currently held by "Avengers: Endgame" (2019) with $357.1 million, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
In other countries, the new "Spider-Man" grossed $572 million – totaling $927 million for the first weekend. This is the second-best result in history – first place here also belongs to "Avengers: Endgame" with $1.2 billion.
The film's budget was $225 million. The main audience was young male viewers: 36% of viewers were aged 18 to 24, and 61% of the total audience were men.
This extraordinary start occurred amidst discussions about potential viewer fatigue with franchises and the superhero genre, especially after the unsuccessful box office run of DC Studios' "Supergirl" this summer.
The film also stars Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. The plot focuses on Peter Parker's struggles with a lonely life until an unseen enemy emerges.
