Iran ready to fight US until the end of Trump's presidential term

Iran can prolong the war with the United States of America for at least another two and a half years — until the end of Donald Trump's presidential term in January 2029. This was stated in an interview with American television company PBS by Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naghdi, advisor to the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

According to the Iranian general, Tehran believes it has already achieved an unconditional victory, as Washington failed to achieve its main goals. Among them, the general named the overthrow of the Iranian leadership and the collapse of Iran.

However, according to Naghdi, Iran has not yet achieved its ultimate goal. He noted that previously, Iranian armed forces had never waged a real war against the US, but over the past five months, they have gained significant experience in confronting the American military.

The general stated that Iranian military personnel were convinced: the American army is weaker than they had assumed. Now, according to him, Tehran aims to create a stable deterrence mechanism so that other countries in the future do not dare to attack Iran.

One way to achieve this goal, Naghdi said, is to continue the war until the end of Donald Trump's presidential term. In his opinion, if American forces are exhausted, any new attack against Iran will cost the US too dearly.

At the same time, the Iranian general emphasized that Tehran does not seek to destroy the American people. Commenting on the popular Iranian slogan "Death to America!", he stated that it implies not hostility towards the US population, but rather opposition to the American leadership.

The war between the US and Iran began after a joint American-Israeli military operation against Iran in February of this year. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding, which envisioned a cessation of hostilities, but the truce was later broken, and there is still no long-term agreement.

On August 10, Donald Trump stated that the US could either allow Iran to continue its path to economic collapse or strike the country with a "very, very strong" blow. The American president also claimed that Washington controls a significant portion of Iran's financial resources.
