488 Trees Fell, 15 Cars Damaged — Aftermath of Yesterday's Storm

Rescuers are dealing with the aftermath of bad weather.

As a result of strong winds with gusts up to 24 m/s, which occurred on August 22, roofs of 1 residential building, 8 agricultural and 2 administrative buildings were damaged in the Grodno region, and 1 residential building and 2 agricultural buildings in the Minsk region, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

As a result of falling trees, two children were injured in the Minsk region.

Near Niasvizh, a 12-year-old boy was injured; he was hospitalized.

Near the village of Markaushchyna, Minsk district, a ten-year-old boy was injured. After receiving medical attention at a healthcare facility, he was sent for outpatient treatment.

488 cases of falling trees were recorded: in the Brest (27), Vitebsk (59), Grodno (134), Minsk (233), Mogilev (8) regions and in Minsk (27).

15 passenger cars were damaged by trees: in the Brest (2), Grodno (3), Vitebsk (4), Minsk (4) regions and in Minsk (2). Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other organizations carried out work on sawing and clearing fallen trees.

Due to bad weather, the electricity supply was periodically disrupted. Outages are being promptly rectified by emergency crews.
