Trump Accused China of Hacking Elections

"The Chinese government wanted me to lose the 2020 election because I imposed tariffs on them," claims the US President.

China gained unauthorized access to the data of 220 million voters, President Donald Trump stated in an address to the nation.

"Data from tens of millions of voters in 18 states was acquired, stolen, or exfiltrated by China through hacking attacks," Trump said. This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, party affiliation, and other sensitive information necessary for election registration.

In 2018, China took steps to influence the results of the US midterm elections, and later — the 2020 presidential election.

"The Chinese government wanted me to lose the 2020 election because I imposed tariffs on them," Trump claims.

The American leader accused the special services of concealing this information. He demanded that national intelligence, the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the CIA investigate "how and why such important information was hidden," dismiss individuals involved in its concealment, and initiate criminal proceedings against them if there are grounds to do so.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington stated that Beijing "has never interfered and will not interfere in US presidential elections," Reuters reports.
