Russia developed an EW system costing $1.5 million, capable of jamming Starlink signal over an area of 20 square kilometers

According to Serhiy Beskrestnov, the complex is manufactured by the Simferopol enterprise LLC "Russian Dome" (Расійскі купал), and is supplied to the army at a price of about 1.5 million dollars per unit.

The principle of the system's operation, according to Flash, is quite simple: satellite antennas are placed on the ground, aimed at a passing Starlink satellite. The system emits powerful interference in the 14-14.5 GHz range.

«This range is divided into 8 channels, each 62.5 MHz wide. The Russians conditionally took 8 satellite dishes, aimed them at the satellite, and each dish transmits interference on its own channel. That's it. The satellite is "deafened"," the expert explained.

The first use of such a system, according to "Flash", was recorded in 2024 in the Kharkiv direction, but the complex was quickly discovered and destroyed then. Until 2026, no widespread attempts at repeated use were recorded. However, after Ukraine began attacks on Russian logistics, instances of Starlink suppression became more frequent.

Recently, the commander of the 422nd separate unit of the Drone Forces published a video of the destruction of one such complex, confirming that Ukrainian forces systematically detect and eliminate similar EW assets.

In late May, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin stated that Ukraine's use of satellite technologies could force Russia to use weapons "that will leave no trace of anyone." However, the Russian army itself had previously actively used Starlink terminals for troop coordination, but after SpaceX, at Kyiv's request, disabled all unregistered devices in Ukraine, the advance of Russian troops sharply slowed down.

On June 10, the State Duma adopted a package of amendments prohibiting the sale in Russia of equipment for foreign satellite communication systems that have not received permission to use Russian radio frequencies — primarily referring to Starlink terminals. The Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media confirmed that the new measures reinforce the ban on the sale of equipment that operates bypassing state regulation. In parallel, Russia is attempting to create its own satellite communication systems, in particular the "Rassvet" (Dawn) project by "Bureau 1440", which is called the Russian analogue of Starlink.
