There are 19 Catholic churches operating in Minsk. It is planned that in the future, two more churches within walking distance will open their doors for believers, Metropolitan of Minsk-Mogilev Jozef Stanevsky told "Minsk-Novosti".
— There are 19 places operating in Minsk where parishioners can come to pray. Among them are those inherited from our ancestors — the Church of Saints Simon and Helena, the Archcathedral of the Name of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, the Church of Saint Roch, as well as newly introduced churches: the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua, and others, — noted the head of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus.
The Archbishop pointed out that the year 2026 holds exceptional significance for believers.
— This year marks the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Catholic structures. This is a good occasion to recall the role of the church in the development of Belarusian society, to jointly determine further prospects with state and scientific structures, and to develop so-called "churches within walking distance". It is planned that such churches will appear in Navinki, Zhdanovichi, and some other micro-districts of the capital, — Stanevsky clarified.
