The plans for the site of the former Museum of the Great Patriotic War are still changing. First, the 36-storey skyscraper of Kempinski hotel by architect Viktar Kramarenka was a possible new building in the very heart of Minsk. However, the project was changed, Onliner reports.
The new option is a 24-floor building. The renders of the project have recently appeared on skyscrapercity.com.
The style of the building is harmonised with the newly build headquarters of mobile network operator Velcom.
The building will comprise a 100-room hotel and living apartments. One of two 4-storey wings will host a modern art gallery and another — a shopping centre.
There is an alternative project of 7-storey hotel and 9-storey apart-hotel developed by Belgian architects.
All the projects were considered by the municipal authorities last spring. However none of them has been chosen to be built. The Museum of the Great Patriotic War is still situated in the old building as it will move the exposition by July 2014.
