New restrictions correspond to the sanction measures that the European Union adopted on April 23, 2026, as part of the 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia. The decision of the country's Federal Council came into force on September 19, 2026.

As noted in the document by the Swiss authorities, these measures further align the sanctions regime against Belarus with the restrictions in force against Russia.
The sanctions extend the existing ban on the export to Belarus of goods that could contribute to the country's military-technological development or generate significant revenue for it.
In the financial sector, new restrictions affect transactions with cryptocurrencies and central bank currencies, including the Belarusian ruble.
Furthermore, it is prohibited to provide security services to Belarus, its state bodies, and state corporations.
