Before reaching scientists, the bone was kept at home by local residents for 30 years.

A shoulder bone of a young mammoth was found in Mikashevichi.
"Specialists have already examined the find, and it turned out to be the left shoulder bone of a young mammoth. It is in good condition. The age of this bone is not yet known, analyses are being conducted. It is currently in the exhibition of the Institute of History. Most likely, it will be stored with us or we will transfer it to paleontologists," told BelTA Aleksey Avlasovich, head of the Center for Archaeology of Belarus at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences.

The new exhibit from Mikashevichi was handed over to the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus by a local resident. The find had been waiting for its time for 30 years.
"My father worked as an excavator operator at RUE "Granit". They were removing the top layer of sand to get to the granite. And during these operations, the bones were found. I was a schoolboy then. The find was kept at our home for about 30 years. And I decided to hand it over to scientists," noted Vladimir Mironov.
