Teams from Belarus, Switzerland, Lithuania, Germany, Greece, and Great Britain participated in the final race of women's double crews.
After the first half of the distance, the Belarusian athletes were third, but in the second part of the race, they significantly increased their pace and ultimately crossed the finish line first. Silver was won by Greek rowers Dimitra Kontou and Evangelia Anastasiadou, who were 1.32 seconds behind the Belarusians. Third place was taken by representatives of Lithuania, Martyna Kazlauskaitė and Dovilė Rimkutė.
For Alena Furman, this victory became her fifth at European championships. She previously became champion in the single sculls in 2018, 2021, and 2024, and in the double sculls in 2019. Now, another gold medal has been added to these titles.
Last year, Klimovich and Furman together won bronze medals at the World Championships in the same discipline.
Tomorrow, Belarusian athletes are scheduled to compete in three more finals of the European championship: in the men's single sculls (Yauheni Zalatny), women's lightweight single sculls (Valeriya Shendel), and men's eight with coxswain.
