Near the village of Baraulyany, near Minsk, local residents noticed an unusual phenomenon — a whole field of sunflowers grew in a forest glade where trees had previously been cut down, writes pristalica.by.
The yellow flowers are not planted in rows, like on agricultural fields, but scattered across the entire glade in small groups. For a forest area, this looks very unusual, as sunflowers are usually grown in vegetable gardens or fields.
The unusual discovery was made by a local resident who was passing by the Minsk Regional Clinical Hospital for Invalids of the Great Patriotic War. According to him, it was the first time he had seen sunflowers growing in the forest, and there were many of them.
How these plants could have appeared is not precisely known. The most probable version is that last autumn someone poured seeds into feeders for birds or forest animals. Some of them were not eaten, overwintered in the soil, and sprouted in spring, forming an unusual glade.
