An unusual thief has visited the apiary of the Voranava forestry in Pieraviez village, Vitebsk district, multiple times. Beehives have repeatedly suffered from its actions, according to the publication 'Vitbichi'.
After the initial attack on the apiary, home to 26 bee colonies, forestry workers installed a camera trap. On one July night, the camera captured the culprit: a young bear.
The animal opened the hives and feasted on honey. According to forestry employees, even though the bear is still young, it possesses enough strength to break open the beehives.
During one of its raids, it even attempted to carry one of the beehives into the forest. However, it couldn't take its prize far and left it near the apiary.
To protect the beehives from further visits, a special bear-repellent device is planned to be installed at the apiary in the near future.
