Minsk became the most popular foreign city for organized tourists from Russia in the summer of 2026. This is evidenced by a study from the booking service "Ostrovok B2B", which analyzed travel agencies' bookings for June-August.
Compared to last summer, the number of accommodation bookings in the Belarusian capital increased by 14%. In addition, among the top ten cities most requested by Russians for educational tourism were Yerevan, Tbilisi, Almaty, Astana, Grodno, Tashkent, Brest, Baku, and Vitebsk. Overall, every second foreign booking made by Russian travel agents this summer accounts for countries of the former USSR.
According to company representatives, Belarus topped the rating thanks to good transport accessibility, the absence of payment difficulties, developed tourist infrastructure, and the ability to choose a vacation for any budget.
Among distant foreign destinations, Asian countries are gaining the most popularity among Russians. Shanghai became the leader in urban tourism, where the number of bookings increased by 27%. Beijing, Guangzhou, Tokyo, and Bangkok are also in high demand. The growth in interest in China is explained by its visa-free regime and the expansion of direct air links between Russian cities and Chinese megacities.
In the beach holiday segment, Batumi took first place among Russians, where the number of bookings increased by 1.4 times. Resorts in Abkhazia — Gagra, Sukhumi, New Athos, and Pitsunda — also remain in demand. Among other popular holiday destinations, Russian tourists choose Turkish resorts Antalya, Alanya, and Kemer, as well as Vietnamese Nha Trang and Da Nang, and Thai Pattaya and Phuket.
