Trump announced the start of the «most destructive economic operation» against Iran

And called it «economic D-Day»

«No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran more opportunities to reach an agreement than I have. To their misfortune, they never took that chance. Therefore, today I am announcing the most destructive economic operation ever carried out against any country!» — he stated.

According to Trump, «this will be an economic war and isolation of unprecedented scale.» Any country that provides any support to Iran will itself face «huge economic consequences» — for Iran, this will be «economic D-Day», he explained.

D-Day refers to the Allied landing in Normandy in June 1944. This was the name of the landing operation, which resulted in the defeat of Nazi Germany in Western Europe.
