Electronic price tags spotted in Minsk's "Euroopt"

The innovation in one of the capital's "Euroopts" was noticed by one of the users on Threads, writes Blizko.by.

"Electronic price tags instead of paper ones, prices will change automatically. They look unusual, like little black screens," — shared the Belarusian woman with the news and a photo.

In the comments, the girl clarified that she had only seen such price tags so far in "Euroopt" near TSUM. It is not yet clear how quickly this experience will spread to other stores in the chain or if it will go beyond the capital. However, as noted in the discussions, such price tags have long been observed in some European countries and Russia.

Belarusians reacted ambiguously to the news of the innovation. Some people believe that electronic price tags will help save paper and simplify work in stores.

However, others were skeptical about the idea. Some doubted its environmental friendliness, noting that such devices still require batteries or other power sources.

Some users expressed the opinion that electronic price tags might attract thieves, as has already happened in Russia. Others pointed out that the inscriptions on such tags might be too small, which would create inconvenience for people with poor eyesight.

A joke was also made about the possible problem with rapid price changes: a buyer might pick up an item at one price, but by the time they reach the checkout, it could already be different.

Урэшце! Тое, што было стандартам у еўрапейскіх супермаркетах (напр. Carrefour) яшчэ 15 год таму, урэшце дайшло да Беларусі.
