In Minsk, a drunk passenger attacked a taxi driver because he didn't talk to him during the ride
A criminal case has been sent to court against a 40-year-old Minsk resident accused of hooliganism. Previously, this man had no problems with the law, but one evening turned out very badly for him, writes the "Minsk-News" agency.

In the evening, the Minsk resident drank alcohol at home, and then decided to go to a friend's place. The man called a taxi and, getting into the Hyundai car, warned the driver that his friend would pay for the trip upon arrival.
Sitting in the back seat, the passenger asked to turn on music and began to drink vodka he had brought with him. As the car was driving along the Minsk Ring Road at a speed of about 90 km/h, the heavily drunk man became bored. He was outraged that the taxi driver was not talking to him.
The passenger moved towards the driver and, without warning, punched him in the back of the head, and then twice in the neck. The driver ducked in surprise, after which he received five more blows to the back. Then the attacker began to forcefully twist the taxi driver's arm, with which he was trying to cover his head.
As a result, the driver lost control of the car and crashed into the barrier fence. The car sustained serious damage to its body and headlights. Fortunately, by this point, the driver had already managed to reduce speed, so more severe consequences were avoided.
After the accident, the attacker got out of the car and walked towards the exit from the Minsk Ring Road. Another driver passing by stopped and asked what had happened. He also reported the incident to the police. The troublemaker was detained that same evening.
At the same time, as noted by law enforcement officers, there was no conflict between the passenger and the taxi driver before the attack. The cause of the aggression was effectively the passenger's dissatisfaction that the driver did not engage in conversation with him.
The man has a higher education, is not married, has no children, and is not officially employed. He had not previously been brought to criminal responsibility. He fully admitted his guilt.
He is charged with hooliganism — intentional actions that grossly violate public order, demonstrate clear disrespect for society, and are accompanied by violence and damage to other people's property.
The man voluntarily compensated for the damage to the car amounting to 6862.11 rubles. In addition, he paid the taxi driver 3000 rubles as material compensation for moral damages.
Experts concluded that the accused needs compulsory treatment for chronic alcoholism. Before the trial, he was placed under a measure of restraint in the form of a recognizance not to leave and good behavior.
