Armless Footballer Scores a Goal in a European Cup Match. He Doesn't Consider Himself Disabled
27-year-old Danish footballer Marius Lind, who was born without a right forearm, scored a historic goal in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers, sports.ru reports .

Marius Lind's club "Runavík" from the Faroe Islands won the return match against Slovenian "Koper" with a score of 3:1. In the first leg, the Faroese team lost 0:2, but managed to come back and eventually advanced after a penalty shootout. The second goal for "Runavík" was scored by Lind.
Thus, he became the second footballer in history without one arm to score in European competitions. Before this, for almost 63 years, the only such player was Northern Irishman Jimmy Heats, who scored for "Dundalk" in the European Cup.
For "Runavík", this success was also historic: the club reached the third round of the Conference League qualification for the first time. The next opponent for the Faroese team will be Swiss "Lugano".

Lind is an important player for "Runavík". In the Faroe Islands championship, he scored four goals and provided four assists in 16 matches. It is expected that he will continue to feature in the starting lineup in upcoming matches.
Lind's football journey began in Denmark. He trained at the "Vestsjælland" academy in Slagelse, where coaches were confused by his physical peculiarity, despite his good speed and technique. When the footballer was approaching a professional level, he was let go, with a promise of help finding employment.
Later, Lind joined the "Slagelse" club and broke into the main team. He even hired a special coach to improve his balance and muscle strength, and also found a training prosthesis that allowed him to fully engage in strength training. However, after "Slagelse" was promoted to the top division, the club did not extend his contract.
In 2022, Lind moved to the Faroe Islands. First, he played for "Argir", then for "B-36 Tórshavn", and in January 2026, he signed a contract with "Runavík".
The footballer himself does not consider the absence of his right forearm a disability and does not want to be perceived as a player who receives exceptions out of pity.

He emphasized that it is simply a physical peculiarity and it motivates him to work even harder — both on and off the football field. According to him, he has never considered himself worse than footballers with two arms. If he loses to someone, it's only due to insufficient technique, speed, or other athletic qualities, not due to the absence of an arm.
In an interview in 2025, Lind also said that he dreams of playing against the strongest teams. At the same time, he does not want to get a place in the team solely because of his peculiarity. He considers himself primarily an athlete and is confident that a place in the squad must be earned through constant training and self-improvement.
