In France, remains of five infants found in a woman's apartment

In the French city of Orange, in the Vaucluse department, police arrested a 32-year-old woman after the remains of five infants were found in her apartment. The prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case on the murder of children under 15 years old, writes Euronews.

According to the investigation, the woman's partner made the horrific discovery. After she gave birth to a healthy child at home a few days ago and was taken to the hospital, the man returned to the apartment to understand the situation.

During a search of the residence, he found several boxes containing the bones of four infants and the body of another newborn. He reported the discovery to the hospital, from where the information was passed on to the prosecutor.

The investigation was entrusted to a specialized unit of the national police. During the search, investigators confiscated the boxes with the remains. A forensic expert confirmed that they belonged to five children. Autopsy and laboratory tests have been ordered to determine the causes of death.

The woman is currently in the hospital after childbirth and has not yet been questioned. Her partner claims he was unaware of his companion's possible pregnancies, so he remains free at this time.

The couple lived in the old part of Orange and were raising two other children — eight and nine years old. Social services have already begun assessing their living conditions. The newborn boy, who was born on Sunday, has been temporarily placed under state care until a decision is made by the juvenile court.
