Minsk threatens Kyiv with «retaliatory actions» after bus incident in Bryansk Oblast
Belarus reserves the right to take measures against Ukraine to protect the lives of its citizens, but will not allow itself to be drawn into military actions. This was stated by Igor Nazaruk, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of Belarus to the CIS.
Nazaruk emphasized that Minsk regards what happened with the bus in Bryansk Oblast as a deliberate threat to the safety of its people and is ready to use all available tools for response.
The official did not specify what was meant, but added that Belarus would not allow the country to be drawn into direct military actions.
Nazaruk emphasized that Minsk's reaction would be restrained, but resolute. «I want to say that the Republic of Belarus will not be intimidated by this terrorist act; we will not be drawn into any military actions. But there will be a resolute rebuff. We have both the forces, the means, and the capabilities. I believe that we will act calmly, but firmly, and in the interests not only of national security, but also in the interests of peace in the region of Great Eurasia,» he said.
On June 17, according to the Russian side, a Ukrainian aircraft-type drone attacked a bus in Russia's Bryansk Oblast, which was carrying a children's football team from Belarus to Gelendzhik for a vacation. As a result of the strike, one woman died, and eight more people were injured. One child and one adult are in serious condition. The Ukrainian side denies involvement in the attack.
