How much would a housewife's work cost in Belarus if she were paid for it
A cooked dinner, clean clothes, a child ready for school, timely paid utility bills — all this is simply called household chores. Although it is a full-fledged and quite hard work. Smartpress calculated how much these services would cost if they had to be paid for at market rates.

Almost a working shift
According to Belstat data, household chores and childcare in Belarus take an average of 4 hours and 16 minutes per day. At the same time, the main burden falls on women — they spend about 5 hours and 43 minutes on household tasks, while men spend only 2 hours and 14 minutes.

If this is converted into a weekly format, it amounts to almost 30 hours, and per month — about 120 hours. This is already employment close to a full-time job. Only no one pays a salary for it, or provides sick leave and holidays. And women also have their main job.
How much it costs on the market
If each household chore is broken down into separate commercial services, it results in a rather substantial budget.
Cooking and washing dishes take about an hour a day. This includes a whole complex of work: planning the menu, buying groceries, bringing and unpacking bags, cooking, and cleaning the kitchen.
Cleaning, washing, and ironing consume more than two hours daily. In the Minsk labor market, a standard apartment cleaning by cleaning services starts from 50 rubles per visit. If you hire a professional household assistant, the average salary for such an employee in the capital is about 2000 rubles, and for a trip to a large country cottage, they ask up to 200 rubles. Ironing and washing are more often charged hourly, accumulating hundreds of rubles per month.
With children and pets, the amount sharply increases
The most expensive and responsible part of household work is children, on whom parents spend an average of 1 hour and 29 minutes per day (preparations, clubs, lessons, communication).
If this care is replaced by hired staff, the numbers start to bite. According to recruitment agencies, nanny services in Belarus cost from 15 to 30 rubles per hour, and with full-time employment, it amounts to 1500 to 3000 rubles per month.
Pets also add to the hassle and expenses. A typical dog walk costs from 15–20 rubles for half an hour on specialized services. If you use such a service daily, you will have to pay from 450 to 600 rubles per month.
Housewife's Final Bill
If we sum everything up, basic household work without considering children and pets (cleaning, cooking, ironing, and shopping) costs somewhere between 1500 to 2500 rubles per month on the Belarusian market.
However, if you add daily full-fledged childcare, dog walking, and minor household management, the final amount easily exceeds 3000-4000 rubles. This is how much a family would have to pay strangers.
