How did a bathrobe end up in the toilet? Minsk plumbers tell about the most unusual pipe blockages
Cat litter, vegetable peels, and more. Employees of the City Emergency Service told "Minsk-Novosti" what surprises they find in pipes.

— We work day and night, — says enterprise director Alexander Kislyuk. — But the main bulk of applications on weekdays comes in around 6:00 PM. This is the time when local housing offices close and residents return from work.
In total, about 220 people work in the City Emergency Service, approximately 140 of whom are directly involved in emergency repair and restoration work.
— The main problems that our brigades solve are leaks in engineering communications located in apartments and basement premises, malfunctions related to hot and cold water supply and heating systems, — clarifies Alexander Labor, head of the emergency repair and restoration service. — You should call the emergency brigade at 115. However, on holidays and long weekends, our dispatch service also accepts applications.
What becomes the source of an emergency situation that requires an urgent call for specialists? Representatives of the emergency service unanimously say that there are many. And in most cases, the causes are the residents' laziness, carelessness, or improper operation of the system.
— Quite recently, cat litter rose to the top and became the leader in causing problems. Literally a couple of weeks ago, in one of the houses, four risers had to be shut off at once because of it. Moreover, it's hard to remove once it's blocked. When it gets into liquid, the filler forms a gel: during cleaning, a metal cable passes right through it. Second place is taken by all kinds of vegetable peels, especially during the harvesting season! Sometimes even whole rolls of toilet paper fly into the toilet, — says Kislyuk.
— Our employees have had to retrieve towels and bathrobes from sewer pipes, not to mention floor rags. Sometimes you want to ask residents: how do you manage to shove bathrobes in there? — says Labor.
