Nikol Pashinyan won yesterday's parliamentary elections in Armenia. His "Civil Contract" bloc received 49.81 percent of the votes, which gives it 60 percent of the seats.
The opposition alliance "Strong Armenia", led by Samvel Karapetyan, a Russian businessman of Armenian origin, received 23.29%. Another bloc of opposition forces — "Armenia", led by the country's former president Robert Kocharyan, received 9.94%.
"The 'Civil Contract' party will form the government alone," Pashinyan noted at a press conference.
Pashinyan has governed Armenia since April 2018, having come to power during protests.
