The main secret is in the sepals. If the leaves adhere tightly to the berries — they will most likely be sour.
If the leaves are slightly bent back — you have ripe sweet berries in front of you.
In addition, experts advise choosing dry berries of a bright red color with green and fleshy sepals.
Before buying, also smell the strawberries. They should have a bright, rich strawberry aroma.
If there's no smell, it means they ripened on the way.
Strawberries spoil quickly, so buy only as much as you can eat in one or two days. Leftovers can be safely frozen — the berries perfectly preserve vitamins.
Sanitary doctors also strongly remind: under no circumstances should you taste unwashed berries from the counter.
