Hubarevich Tries to Challenge Babaryka: 'Are There Fears That You Won't Be Able to Overcome the Threshold in the Coordinating Council Elections?'
Viktar Babaryka stated that he will not participate in the elections to the Coordinating Council, just as the organizing committee of his 'Razam' party will not participate. Yuras Hubarevich commented on the former banker's arguments.

I don't know who formulated the 'Razam' party's position regarding non-participation in the elections to the Coordinating Council. But in its presented form, it does not withstand any criticism.
"It is necessary to change the principles of formation and interaction of all institutional bodies of democratic forces..." — an interesting proposal, though not new. However, wouldn't it be easier to do this by being part of the process?
The Coordinating Council is one of the three signatories of the Protocol on Interaction OST — APC — CC. Get a significant number of seats in the CC, raise the question of revising the Protocol.
I don't understand how this can be done from the outside. Unless you join the ranks of marginalized groups who criticize but are truly unable to influence anything.
"We tried to postpone these elections until autumn..." — please elaborate here. How did you try? As far as I know, not a single official appeal was sent to the Coordinating Council. Nor were there any public statements.
In general, the practice of postponing election dates for the needs of one of dozens of political actors is flawed, because a fundamental principle is violated: the periodicity and predictability of electoral processes, a basic democratic principle that should not depend on the readiness of individual organizations.
And even if we allow for the postponement of elections, the question remains open: would this guarantee the participation of the 'Razam' party if the corresponding organizational base had not been formed over the previous 6 years?
"The 'Razam' party ... acts in the interests of the Belarusian people and its members."
And what are the problems here? Are there fears that there won't be enough members to form an electoral list and that the interests of the Belarusian people have changed so much since 2020 that it will be impossible to overcome the threshold in the Coordinating Council elections?
"At the moment, we do not see the possibility of truly ensuring the effectiveness of the CC and the expediency of our activities within its framework." Given the above, this is the most understandable and logical point of the statement. With such an attitude towards understanding the role of democratic institutions and forms of participation in political life, it will indeed be difficult for the 'Razam' party to bring additional value.
