Ministry of Education to Create a "Showcase" for Tutors Instead of a Mandatory Register

The Ministry of Education of Belarus has abandoned the idea of creating a mandatory register of tutors. Instead, they plan to launch a special "showcase of individuals who are independently engaged in professional activities in teaching children." This was reported on August 25 by Olga Rybaklyucheva, Director of the Department for Quality Control of Education at the Ministry of Education.

According to the official, the new system will not be a basis for inspections. It was conceived as a service that will help parents find tutors and educators present their services.

The main principle of the "showcase" is voluntariness. Tutors themselves will decide whether to place their information there. Refusal to participate will not prevent a person from engaging in independent professional activities in teaching children.

The Ministry of Education will, however, confirm professional information about educators — for example, information about their education and absence of a criminal record. This information will be publicly available.

The ministry believes that the presence of a corresponding surname in the "showcase" will become a peculiar sign of professionalism, which will help tutors stand out among other specialists.

They plan to launch the new system from September 1, 2026.

Earlier, a bill on independent professional activity in teaching children was submitted for public discussion. It, in particular, envisioned the creation of a special register of tutors.
