Family left apartment unlocked, and a neighbor stole their wardrobe
Noticing that the family living on the floor below was renovating and periodically left the apartment unlocked, the man watched for an opportunity and paid them an unwelcome visit.
The haul was not bad: a furniture set, a bathtub frame, and glass for a shower cabin. Moreover, the man not only carried all this out as a bulk lot but also remained completely unnoticed.
When the husband and wife discovered the disappearance of their belongings, they called the police. The "goods" were found right there – in the stairwell. The thief had hidden them in the garbage chute. Only one mystery remained: who was the "daredevil", reports the State Committee of Forensic Expertise.
After processing the surfaces of the stolen items with fingerprint powders, the specialist was able to detect fingerprints. And then it was a matter of routine: the prints were checked against the database and led to an unemployed, previously convicted individual, who was also a neighbor with an unexpunged criminal record for theft.
Now the man faces criminal liability for theft.
