In the Odesa region of Ukraine, a MiG-29 fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Force was lost during a combat mission. The pilot managed to eject and was evacuated to a medical facility, according to the Air Force press service.

According to preliminary information, the pilot was performing a mission to destroy enemy air targets. During the launch of an air-to-air missile, an emergency situation occurred. The aircraft caught fire, and the pilot lost control of it. He tried to save the machine but was eventually forced to eject.
The pilot survived; after ejecting, he was evacuated for medical assistance. Detailed information about his condition is not yet available.
The causes of the incident are being investigated.
This is not the first such incident involving Ukrainian fighter jets recently. On July 29, during the interception of Russian air targets, an emergency situation also occurred on an F-16 aircraft. The pilot ejected, and the aircraft crashed.
Earlier, on June 27, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the loss of contact with another MiG-29 that was performing a combat mission in the Poltava region. The pilot also managed to eject.
