According to the press service of the Armenian government, Pashinyan called on Moscow to take measures in connection with the restrictions imposed by Russia on the import of Armenian products. According to Yerevan, these measures contradict bilateral agreements and the rules of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

In turn, the Kremlin stated that Putin "emphasized the need to hold a nationwide referendum in Armenia as soon as possible on joining the European Union or continued membership in the EAEU."

According to the Armenian government's statement, Pashinyan replied that holding such a referendum is only possible after the country submits an official application for accession to the European Union.
